The Concept

Model United Nations (MUN) is an authentic, academic simulation of the United Nations General Assembly, UN Security Council, and other multilateral bodies. It introduces students to the rigorous world of diplomacy, negotiation, and international decision-making. Participants step into the shoes of ambassadors representing different nations, engaging in structured debate to resolve complex global issues.

What Delegates Do

  • Represent a nation as its designated diplomat.
  • Research assigned foreign policies thoroughly.
  • Investigate pressing international crises.
  • Draft position papers and formal resolutions.
  • Negotiate tactfully with both allies and adversaries.

How Debates Work

Debates are strictly governed by standard Parliamentary Procedure (Rules of Procedure). The committee flow alternates between:

Formal Speeches: Dictated by the General Speakers List.
Structured Debates: Moderated Caucuses focusing on specific sub-topics.
Informal Lobbying: Unmoderated Caucuses for drafting resolutions.

Skills Gained

MUN is designed to challenge first-time participants and seasoned debaters alike, cultivating a highly sought-after professional skillset.
